During late 1940s the company was started by Sam Walton as he was franchising a store in Newport. He was looking for something special and extra for the customers so customers can enjoy variety of deals. Usually retailers convince wholesalers for reducing the prices but do not give this benefit to the customers. They charge full amount from the customers so they can enjoy the extra money. This company was opened in 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas and was created to make a difference in the retail experience for the customers. Walton had another mission of increasing the volume of customers. He decided to share his profit with the customers so the sales of the company are increased. In this way more and more customers will come in the company with the mission of getting low prices and Walton will get the profits ultimately. This was the main idea of the business and it started in 1962 (Snider, et al. 2003). Many retail stores are present today but still Wal-mart is on top not because they were the initiators but the major reason for their success is the never ending struggle for getting customers what they deserve. The company has dedicated the lives for the customers by giving them with finest quality products at lowest prices. This business has grown because of the visionary leadership of the company. Sam Walton had a vision of retail store that gives benefits to the customers by giving them excellent quality services at low prices (Aaron, 2000).
