Whereas sitting with others gives us various opinions, perceptions and ideas that are equally important and have to be taken forward. There are several researches and surveys that are carried out showing that when a combined study is carried out then surely the people remain more active and engaged. They tend to learn from each other and in turn contribute and communicate among each other on the required subject. There are many useful and constructive thoughts and ideas that are generated when the students work in a group. Group based learning not only helps in more learning and information sharing rather it will help in getting the work done easily and in a speedy way. The universities specially the foreign ones are having a curriculum designed at the end of the course wherein they will ask students to work in a group and come out with the results. This is a group assessment where the attributes like team work, behavior towards each other, information sharing and exchange is also shared and updated. Group based learning will inculcate a spirit of learning and establishing an understanding for each other in the group (Kim, 2013).
Yes Group based or cooperative learning helps but it helps mostly for the advanced level or higher level of studies. Group based learning is useful for few of the courses and backgrounds but the individual may not grow in it. This could be said and explained with the help of an example. Say in a college we have a group to execute an IT project.
