The communication skills and the time management skills are the two most basic skills which should be developed by everybody because it is extensively used in our day to day life. There are ways and means which can help to develop these skills.
In order to improve my communication skills, I need to work on the following points. They are:
Watching my body language: I need to work on the eye contact and various body postures so that I boost my confidence level and also make the listener comfortable by assuring him that I am listening to him properly (Johnson & Brown, 2014).
Getting rid of unnecessary communication: in order to be more persuasive, I need to get rid of the unnecessary “ah!!”, “umm!” etc. I need to relax, think and then speak so that I appear to be more confident.
Result oriented communication at workplace: at workplace it is very necessary that all the conversation has an end result. There is no need to carry on with a pointless communication (Kolb & Kolb, 2012).
Understand the situation: I need to understand the whole situation before making any decision. The same thing applies for the communication as well. Before telling a “no” or a “yes” to my boss, I need to think over the current situation.
Learn From my mistake: it is aptly said, “better late than never”. This means that I should always be ready to learn from my mistakes rather cribbing about the mistakes. One gets experienced with each mistake which he makes.
