This research proposal presents a detailed study of impact of e-commerce on society. The study is intended to understand and analyse the impact of e-commerce on society. Ethnomethodological studies place a specific focus on studying the detail of situated activity as it happens. The proposal presents a detailed and comprehensive analysis of the electronic commerce and how it has changed the landscape of the society over a period of time (Xiao & Benbasat, 2007).

A proposal that focuses on impact of ecommerce on society is important for several reasons. First, it highlights how internet has expanded beyond the realms of technological constraints and has made its place in social structure across globe. Second, it collates a varying wealth of meaningful data which assists in understanding psychology persisting within society. Finally, it brings information related to electronic commerce to a wider spectrum of audience and experts who are focused on understanding impact of technology and internet on society.

Through introduction of ‘appresentation work’, this proposal will attempt to highlight various aspects of electronic commerce related and various entities which are either directly involved in it or are impacted because of it.

The purpose of this phenomenological study/proposal is to elaborate the field of electronic commerce, various key factors associated with it, and how it is contributing towards redefining society at various levels. The overall aim of this proposal is to draw a complete scenario, understand different positives and negatives, gaps and overall position of electronic commerce in society. Ultimately the proposal will attempt to make certain recommendation for further enhancement of the user experience related to electronic commerce and how it can further assist in designing of the society.
