Modernism movement is believed to be triggered during early twentieth century. It is often mentioned in various work, that modernism movement brought a rising stylist change in various aspect of life (Bradbury & McFarlane, 1978). That is why impact of modernism was felt on design, architecture, music and lifestyle etc. As a result of modernism several old forms of art were phased out, giving space to new forms of art and culture through a continuous revolution. Across Europe there was a strong belief among designers, architects and artists that a new century will be unveiled on the basis of rapid mass industrialisation and technological growth.
The entire modernism movement was responsible for transforming the way artists, designers, architects and overall society used to think. It has also had major impact on how various aspects mentioned above were experienced and expressed (Huyssen, 1986). As a result of modernism movement, there was major impact on the various forms of design which included architecture, art, literature and music. With onset of completely new and fresh perspective introduced by modernism, there was rise in interest related to exploring new materials, and rejection of various historical precedents.
In order to further understand the modernism movement, it is first essential to define the term itself. Modernism can be defined as a philosophical movement, which shaped the western societies in late 19th and early 20th century. As an impact of modernism movement a wide spread change was witnessed in cultural as well as art field.

Stream-of-consciousness novel: This term was innovated during the modernism movement itself. It can be defined as narrative mode, with respect to literary criticism. This term has been often defined as another term for ‘interior monologue’ as well.
Twelve-tone music: One of the major innovations during modernism era in field of music was twelve-tone music; it was basically method of musical composition which was invented by famous Arnold Schoenberg.
Abstract Art: Among all the innovation in modernism, concept of abstract art is such that it still exists and thrives today. This kind of art can be defined as an art which is focused on use of visual language of form, color, and line in order to draw or create a work which might not have any direct visual references present in world.
