That is why impact of modernism was felt on design, architecture, music and lifestyle etc. As a result of modernism several old forms of art were phased out, giving space to new forms of art and culture through a continuous revolution. Across Europe there was a strong belief among designers, architects and artists that a new century will be unveiled on the basis of rapid mass industrialisation and technological growth.

The entire modernism movement was responsible for transforming the way artists, designers, architects and overall society used to think. It has also had major impact on how various aspects mentioned above were experienced and expressed (Huyssen, 1986). As a result of modernism movement, there was major impact on the various forms of design which included architecture, art, literature and music. With onset of completely new and fresh perspective introduced by modernism, there was rise in interest related to exploring new materials, and rejection of various historical precedents.

Definitions

In order to further understand the modernism movement, it is first essential to define the term itself. Modernism can be defined as a philosophical movement, which shaped the western societies in late 19th and early 20th century.
