There are several ways in which the dignity and honor of a woman working in any office environment can be put at peril. There are different ways in which men can endanger the mental peace and disturb the physical space of a woman’s work environment (Hersch, 2015). Any form of discriminatory behavior that segregates women from men has come to be recognized as contributory to sexual harassment. The entire work place can come to a halt if gender inequality is not checked. Comments on a woman worker’s appearance like her dress, hair or even her smile, voice and manner of conducting herself are demoralizing. The women workers feel embarrassed and sometimes even tend to leave the jobs (Hersch, 2015). While there are the somewhat subtle and most often ignored and overlooked forms of sexual harassment, there is a whole repertoire of the direct and focused means of harassment faced by the fairer sex at the work place.There are several ways in which these offenders have made their gestures to be a practiced art. These gestures may be perpetuated in the form of a casual arm across the shoulder, a brush against the breast, standing too close or pressing the genitals into the body of the female colleague, patting the cheek or even stroking and whacking the buttocks and similar gestures (Roberts, & Mann, 2015).

When questioned or challenged these men deny all that such charges that have been levied against them. They put the entire blame on the victim. Similar forms of sexual harassment are observed when female employees are asked to stay in late beyond office hours; attending to all forms of work that are beyond the call of duty is another form of sexual harassment. Many a times, the women are unaware of their rights (Roberts, & Mann, 2015). Many of them are wary about intimidating the immediate boss and giving their salary benefits slashed drastically. There is also a sizable number who like the extra perks of vehicle, home, club membership privileged space etc. The impact of this form of sexual harassment is wide and varied (McDonald, Charlesworth, & Graham, 2015). A large proportion suffers in silence. The impact goes deep into their psyche. The effects gradually begin to emerge in their behavior and psyche. These behavioral aberrations disturb the women so much that they seek an escape route in alcohol and substance abuse. They feel the need to drown their disgust and disdain at the abhorrent behavior of their men folk in these escape vents.
