Health care is one of the basic necessities of human beings. Most of the developing and under developed countries of the world are in urge of designing the policies to support the health care system of the country. It has been recorded that a large portion of human population does not receive proper health care facilities or medication. In the areas like Africa and certain parts of Asia, the real situation is that people are living in terrible conditions with the risk of death due to chronic diseases (Alwan, 2011), as they do not get enough essential medications to heal their disease. According to the policies and academic research discussed in this article, there is a significant relationship between the pharmaceutical companies and the state of medications in poor countries. The pharmaceutical companies can play an effective role in solving the medication problem (Dumit, 2012). The potential issues in the underdeveloped parts of Asia and Africa and the expected role of pharmaceutical companies in eliminating these issues have been discussed in this essay.

A large number of Asian and African countries lie in the poor, high population and low wage class of the world. Contacting with the research of Ashcroft (2002), the most people living in the poorest countries in Africa cannot afford the price of the essential medications. According to the actual situation in Africa, HIV is the most common problem in Africa. Kevin (2009) highlights a problem about the essential medication in Africa that the manufacturers of producing HIV medicine plays monopoly and control prices of drugs in the country. The data shows that if AIDS patients adhere to treatment, they may live an average of about 24 years after having AIDS. During this period more than $600,000 is required for medical expenses, which makes an average of $25,200 expenditure per year (Bor et al, 2013). This expenditure on medicine is unaffordable for the vast majority of AIDS patients. Not only the patients who live in this area cannot afford the treatment, but also the government of Africa cannot afford the huge money which is required to cure the HIV.
