Women have played quite a significant role in Odyssey. They have always encouraged the warriors and helped them in coming out of the problem situation. They have been quite loyal to their spouses and the family members. We may take example of Penelope. She had been very loyal to her husband. She waited almost for 20 years and did not get involved with other man as she was sure that he will return. Similarly we may take example of Eurycleia who is the nurse for Penelope. She also remains loyal to her master and serves her well in each and every circumstance. Athena has been very encouraging and helps the king in solving the problems that persisted in the palace. She changed the appearance of Odysseus to give him disguise or make him look even more formidable. Mother of Telemachus has always supported her husband in each and every bad circumstance. Women have shown so many encouraging and motivating experiences in this epic. Not only this they have shown the characteristics like loyalty, perseverance and encouragement. They have always been on the spiritual path and also encouraged the kings and the families on getting on to this way. They can be called as the backbone of the entire epic. They are the ones who brought people together and other times, they are the ones who have led them on the path of vengeance. They can be called as the guide or the mentees in certain situations where they have guided the kings. Women have formed the base of the entire epic on which each and every man stands upon. They have not only behaved as supporters but also moved with their family in their good or bad times.
