With the Research skills, students find the information and make homework to reflect what they have learned and what they can expand
What can be done to help students practice and deepen their understanding of new knowledge?
Homework is a valid way to inspect what students have studied and how much knowledge they have grasped. At the same time, homework also helps teacher to know about their teaching and how they can improve their deficiencies from the feedback (Kohn, 2016).
About the Methodology (collaborative learning)
The definition that is broadest in relation to collaborative learning describes the situation where attempts are made for learning or attempt for learning by two or more individuals in learning something together (Dillenbourg, 1999). The learning is not alone, but with group work. For this type of activities, there are other terms such as, learning by peer assistance, group learning, team learning, and cooperative learning (Barkley et al., 2014)
In my opinion, collaborative learning is the best teaching methodology, with which students can study with each other and share the ideas, knowledge, and improve the ability of self-study. Self-study is an important ability for the whole life. It deepens the exploration through the collaborative learning. Students can also make a group presentation to display what they have studied and share their conception, ideas, knowledge with other groups.
On the other hand, collaborative learning also helps teacher check which student needs more help or which student needs further expansion of knowledge.
From the 7 different resources, students should gain the knowledge and understanding of the target year 4. The study includes the importance of people, animals, and natural vegetation (Australian curriculum, 2015). Besides, teachers must study how to choose the useful and adaptive information for this age, and use the resources to make an effective activity in the class.
