Neoliberalism is the theory of economy practice stating that the human growth and well being in the communities can be achieved by liberation of people. This liberation can be achieved by giving people right to hold property, developing free market and free trade principles. This Neo liberalism fosters capitalistic ideologies that enable people primarily to growth through free market economy (Schor, 2004). The modern day globalization is based on the original ideology of the notions of neoliberalism. Neoliberalism is found to instill the notions of individualism in the societies. Initiative, ambition and personal responsibility are the hallmarks of neoliberalism. Paradoxically, neoliberalism leads to individuals gaining autonomy and more control of the consumer culture. Capitalist depends on the consumerism to survive. In this situation, they foster a society that is dependent on owing products to pretend to be free. In other words, the consumers are tangled with the consumer culture that is existing in the societies. In this case, it seems as though that women in the societies are given ample opportunity to grow. Nevertheless, this is not true.
There is a resigned compliance that has been found in people to follow the mandated protocols set by the consumer culture.There is a paradoxical relationship that exists between neoliberalism and framing of the culture in the societies. It has been found that there is a resigned compliance amongst people to buy toys to denote the gender. It was also found that people linked certain toys with gender. If toys were differentiated based on race, ethnicity or political ideology, it would have sparked outrage among people. However, this stereotyping based on the gender seems to be an acceptable social norm and this should be a cause of worry. Let Toys be Toys campaign brings out the nuance of these issues in the societies. Gender identity is created by the society. It is found to change within the realms of the society. It is not a stable or fixed trait. In the lets toys be toys campaign, it reiterates that women personality are created by the society. Notions of womanhood or femininity are created through a process of creation of gender through interaction with particular social context.
