The theory thus is of the view that the mass media which is the television can have an influence on a large group of humans. The scenes shown can have a direct and uniform process of ‘injecting’ the humans with such appropriate messages which are so designed that they can trigger a particular desired response on the part of the humans (C. E. Shannon, 1948). The images through mass media are used to express this needle theory which suggests a direct flow of information which is very powerful in nature from the sender, which is the mass media, to the receiver, which is the human. The bullet or also said as the needle theory suggests that the message through mass media is like a bullet which is fired from the “gun” known as mass media into the viewer’s “head”. The hypodermic needle model theory suggests that media messages through the television are injected straight into the head of the audience who are automatically influenced by the message. This is the process by which the media people influence the audience and thus make them take a particular decision. This theory suggests that the media in the form of television is a very dangerous means of communicating any kind of idea into some one’s head because the receiver is not able to resist the impact of the message received by him. Thus the people then believe on what is demonstrated on the television and completely rely on it. They are not able to escape from the effects of these messages.
