The restructuring of that organization proved to be strictly against the welfare of company employees as labor was a major cost component for the firm. On the one hand restructuring created winners among employees that remained able to stay in the company after restructuring, and on the other, it created losers. Losers were those who lost their jobs in the process of restructuring. Skill attributes of employees who were working in Caterpillar were analyzed to determine that who will have to forgo his job and who will stay in the company after its downsizing (McKinley, et al., 2000).
