There is one popular statement that almost every meat eater says is that in this wild nature, animals do kill and can actually kill other animals in order to have food just because it is nature. So first of all, we have to understand that we are not living in the wild world. Then secondly, we can actually live without killing animals and eating meat (Sinclair et. al., 2003). Well, some my counter question that what about those animals who kill each other in order to have food. We can answer that specifically in that case, food chains are meant to be there and not in the case for human beings. Wild animals are meant to kill other animals in order to get their food.
So, it is clear that human beings were not actually meant to have meat earlier as being a herbivore is what a kind of lifestyle that had been adopted in earlier times but then, people who lived in forests and at the places where they could not find food, started killing animals to stay alive (Soule et. al., 2003). But in today’s scenario, it is a kind of a trend to have non-vegetarian food without even bothering on the status of the animals’ population.
We also cannot deny the fact that this regular consumption of meat and animal flesh for the humans has affected the population of the animals in some way or the other.
Below given is a map of the world in which we have shown the increasing consumption of meat and flesh by human beings and that is shown by the colour difference.
The colour is changing from light to dark that depicts the increasing consumption of meat and flesh of so many different kinds of animals by humans.
We have measured it through a scale from 2 to 2.6. Have a look at it and you yourself will understand as of how the today’s world has changed and is now consuming a huge amount of animal flesh than before. We can see that a huge part of USA and almost the whole of Australia is at the top of the list that consumes the highest amount of meat and flesh whereas China and some places in Africa are there that is at the lower position and consumes relatively very less amount of meat. There are a very few parts in Africa that does not even take in meat and flesh. (Estes et. al., 1998)
