He says, “I prefer to film the actors while they are still free. Rehearsals start to lock down what they’re about to do and then they go through the motions. I like to capture the surprises of what they might do in a new situation.”
It would be a huge injustice without appreciating near-to-perfect performances of the cast of this film. The most deserving actor in the movie was Kagawa who played the role of Ryuhei, the unemployed Japanese individual. He depicted the character of Ryuhei more than well. Kagawa proficiently conveyed the struggles to retain his previous status in the society. Koizumi, who played the role of Megumi, Ryuhei’s wife, is an excellent performer. She played his part skillfully to depict the frustration lying in the life of a domestic Japanese woman, especially when she suspects her husband to be unemployed. She played a role of a generous wife who supported her children even in the worst phase of their lives. The acting of the couple gave life to the direction and script of the movie. Due to the curiosity, mystery and anxiety of a Japanese family, this film attained mere popularity in the movie world.
