The characters in these games are morally involved with the games and the storylines of the games. Though, in most of the games the players are merely a witness and he doesn’t have the agency which may be required to guide the decision made by the player’s character. An example of the same can be defined by the death of the character Aeris in Final Fantasy VII. This character at many times is controlled by the player and she chooses to sacrifice herself so as to safeguard her planet. Thus, the game teaches ethical behavior to the players. Similarly, in the game Max Payne, the character of Max is described to be as the one who is troubled because of the situation and most of the decisions which are made by him are controlled by the players.

The Max also takes the decision if it should be the known criminal or not and not the player (Sicart & Miguel, 2005). It is important that the games in the present world should be ethical. This is important as it will help in creation of a better mind-set among the players. A game may have a serious impact on the minds of the players. They can also repeat a certain actions into their day to day life. Therefore, it is important that the games should be ethical. Even if in some of the games, the practices of the characters is unethical, there should be a message to the players that they should follow the ethics in life and should be good person.
