Judging someone by saying them dirty just because they are brown is class discrimination. Educational system of the country is bias that can be observed by the inequality in the educational system of the country. Victor struggled among these social issues like unequal opportunities of employments especially for the minorities in the country during her early time period in the country. Story of victor is not just about some girl that comes from small town to a big city and faces social pressures. Most of the schools in United States are segregated and millions of the white students are given additional facilities. Even by providing these opportunities most of the high school students cannot graduate the high school. As a teenage girl she had emotions like other girls and wanted to go on a date with the guy she liked the most. This guy was good in dancing and a god friend of victor and never showed discrimination against victor. Victor was never confident about her face because she had chicken pox at an early age that gave her marks on her face. She was thin and had long neck that was not liked by most by the guys. She was in dilemma as to what can be done for making her pretty. Victor mentioned about two girls of her high school that were blonde and liked by most of the guys of the school. These girls never wore proper clothes and always depicted their beauty. Victor came from a conservative family where her father was conservative. He never gave her permission of going out with guys on a date except for special occasions like prom.
