The Merri Creek is a waterway flowing through the northern suburbs of Melbourne & southern parts of Victoria, Australia & joins the Yarra river at Dights Falls. The surrounding areas near the creek are believed to be the location for meetings for settlements of land treaties between Australian & Europeans (Rosemary Overell, 2010). There is a rocky cliff on the eastern side of Merri Creek which is tall, cracked in some parts & formed as a result eruption of volcanic lava activity. Flora & Fauna in the area comprises of kingfishers, kookaburras, frogs & dandelion, dock, fennel respectively. The creek is situated near industrial area.
Process & Interaction
The formation of recent Merri Creek has been through the lava surface. It flows in southern direction for a few kilometers & joins the Yarra River in Fairfield near Dights Falls & subsequently flows into Port Philip Bay. The surrounding area is exposed to high volcanic activity & has been a part of human civilization in southern parts of Victoria, Australia. The river has been a major source of water resource for the people living in the area. The landscape is of immense importance for Australians living in the area as it caters to the needs of the habitants residing in the Clifton Hill. The waterway has served to be a source of industrial waste & disposables in the area due to location of large industrial houses & plants near the location. Human activity has been on the rise in the landscape because of flourishing business opportunities prevalent in the nearby location. Flora & Fauna has seen heightened activity & continues to grow at a moderate rate even due to intervention of human activity in the landscape & surrounding sites (Richard Ely, 2009). The Merri Creek is believed to be an area of gathering for settlement of earliest land treaties between indigenous Australians & Europeans.
