Wars are generally actions initiated by states or two or more than 2 political communities. These actions are characterized by widespread violence social disruption. Wars are generally accompanied by widespread use of arms or ammunition which results in destruction of social, economic and political environment.
Destruction of social and cultural environment can be brought about by other means also. The chief among them include destruction of environment because of pollution, destruction of cultural and social environment by anti-social elements etc.
One of the biggest disasters to have ever occurred due to war was the complete destruction and annihilation of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the Second World War in August, 1945.
Another instance of an ancient cultural site being affected by Pollution is one of the seven wonders of world, Taj Mahal in India. Industrial pollutants from the nearby factories in Agra have vastly affected this marvelous wonder so much so that it has begun losing its sheen and the stone is getting corroded at some places.
