在组织2010年上海世博会时，组织者面临着社会和环境问题。对这一事件提出的第一个问题是环境问题。中国经济的快速增长带来了环境破坏方面的问题，也拉长了城乡发展的差距(Purini, 2010)。人们认为这一事件会污染环境，影响公共交通。因此，组织者必须对碳足迹进行管理。世博会选址必须进行环境修复，以确保城市的可持续发展。下一个矛盾是上海世博会社会苦难程度之高的资本主义铺张浪费。中国的资本主义是在低成本劳动力的支持下，对自然资源的无情开采。这一想法始于1978年，当时大批工人参与管理开支，支持激进主义。尽管本届世博会吸引了590亿美元的资金，但由于工人阶级的不断压迫和专为世博会而存在的官僚主义统治，资本主义市场仍然处于社会紧张状态(UNEP, 2012)。
这可能影响政治制度，并破坏未来工人阶级的决定。本届世博会已经吸引了大量投资，但恰恰相反，它所处的位置却处于弱势地位。中国2010年上海世博会旨在向游客展示人潮和城市形象。但是，问题仍然在于后殖民领土的代表性和与实际情况不同的有关条件。它也变成了一场争论，因为后殖民时代的研究对城市的流动性和空间管理提出了不同的观点，但所描述的是完全依赖的。这在当地人中间造成了混乱和骚动。由于有大量的游客来参加这个活动，这当然成为一个主要问题。

In organizing this 2010 Expo Shanghai China, there are societal and environmental issues faced by the organizers. The first issue that was raised towards this event is the environmental concern. The rapid economic growth of China has created problems in the environmental damage and also elongated gap between rural and urban development (Purini, 2010). It was believed that this event can pollute the environment and affect the public transportation. Hence, it was essential for the organizers to work on management of carbon footprint. The expo site selection has to undergo environmental restoration to make sure that municipal sustainability is achieved. The next contradiction is the capitalist extravagance amidst the high degree of social misery in Shanghai World Expo. The capitalism of China lies on ruthless exploitation of the natural reserves with the support of low cost labor. This idea started in 1978 when masses of workers were involved to manage the expenses and support radicalism. While this expo has attracted 59 billion USD, the capitalist market is still put to social tension due to the continuous suppression of working class and bureaucracy dominance exclusively for the event (UNEP, 2012).
This can affect the political system and ruin the decisions of future working classes. This expo has already attracted high investments but on the contrary, the location where this has happened is at an underprivileged state. The expo 2010 Shanghai China was supposed to display flows of people and also images of the city to the visitors. However, the issue remains in the representation of the post colonial territory and associated conditions that differed from the actual. It had also transformed into a controversy because the post colonial research has given a different idea on urban mobility and management of spaces but what has been depicted is entirely dependent. This has developed a state of confusion and agitation among the locals. With a high number of visitors to this event, this certainly evolved as a major issue.
